Who said colouring in was boring. We have had thunder, lightening and floods with some of us having to hike through the dark to get back to our gites. We have visited 3 lively local markets, walked through the  Grot du Mazul, climbed up through an incredible church building into the rock face at Vals and had some delicious meals and loads of laughs. May be not as much drawing as we would have liked so perhaps we can do a longer workshop in 2018. Details for 2017 at Manzac d’en Bas are 29th September to 6th Ocotber.

Here is what we got up to this week plus some exercises aimed at improving drawing skills.

And last but not least, the lovely Maisie’s masterpiece.

We are enjoying a few days travelling down through France before the workshop at Manzac d’en Bas which starts tomorrow. We have had a couple of lovely overnights chosen by Alastair Sawday. The first near Buzancais, a charming Chateau that has been in the family since it was built in the 19th century, the’Chateau Le Boisrenault’.

The second, near Lascaux at Sergeac, another farm that has been in the family for generations Auberge de Castel-Merle.

Also today we visited a lovely village near Sergeac and found an amazing artist making carved jewellery from ancient mammoth tusks.

Now a little last minute shoe shopping in Toulouse before starting work, phew, it’s all go!

I will be returning to Il Collaccio near Preci, a peaceful, family run, agriturismo set in the truly spectacular surroundings of the Sibillini National Park in Umbria. If you fancy starting your day with freshly baked croissants, fresh fruit and coffee and spending the morning drawing withme usually on the large veranda outside the studio, occasionally looking up to rest your eyes on the distant hill top village of Preci across the valley, then taking a short stroll up the hill to the restaurant for a delicious Italian buffet lunch followed by a relaxing afternoon either swimming, exploring the lovely walks surrounding Il Collaccio, just chilling or do some more drawing. Dine in their restaurant serving locally sourced cuisine and watch the sun set down the valley.

During the week we will arrange an outing to a local vineyard for a wine tasting lunch and a chance to explore an historic hill top town plus a trip up into the Piano Grande to see some amazing flora and take home some of the lentils, truffles and wild boar for which the area is famous. It is a fabulous holiday and this is my 7th year there, I love it so much.
