This week in Spain I have had the luxury of concentrating on my own work and I decided I needed to get back to some basic graphite pencil drawing. Always my first love but now I can experiment with new materials and techniques to achieve different effects and textures on these lovely old almonds.
Managed to enjoy some time in the sun and had a wonderful week with some of my lovely cygnets.
I love graphite too. So much easier to get texture. Have not thought of stippling or cross hatching in years……
What’s your preferred graphite blend Ann?
I’m currently using a mixture of Derwent Graphic pencils B, HB, F and 3B (always my favourite because of the density of black in the middle range rather than the grey of other makes), plus Faber Castell clutch pencils B, HB and F and Caran D’Ache Grafwood F and 9B (deeply dense).
